Limaj expects the Constitutional Court to help in the creation of institutions

Fatmir Limaj

The Chairman of the Social Democratic Initiative, Fatmir Limaj, said that after the failure of political agreements on the constitution of the Assembly, the decision of the Constitutional Court is now awaited, which according to him should provide clear instructions on the legal consequences and further steps.

"We did not take advantage of the political agreements. Now we are waiting for the Constitutional Court to make a decision on the instructions and legal consequences of this process. We have contributed to helping unblock it. This is now a closed issue and we are in a new reality," Limaj said after the 54th attempt to establish a constitution failed.

He added that he expects the Constitutional Court to take into account the public and state interest and to help establish the Assembly and Government as soon as possible.

"I am convinced that the Constitutional Court will instruct the legislature to prevent this situation from recurring and to resolve the issue of the constitution once and for all," Limaj declared.

The Constitutional Court's decision is expected by August 8 - when the temporary measure prohibiting MPs from making decisions expires.
