In a message, as he said to the membership, voters and the people of Kosovo, the leader of the LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, stressed that the latest developments within the entity he leads, force him to temporarily withdraw from the process of political negotiations. A few hours before Abdixhiku addressed the supporters of the LDK, the elected deputy of this party, Armend Zemaj, and the leader of the second branch of this party in Pristina, Florian Dushi, submitted signatures for the call for the Extraordinary Assembly of the party. And on Wednesday, KOHË sources were informed that from the meeting of Abdixhiku with the leader of the LVV, Albin Kurti, an agreement was reached on the creation of new institutions and the division of positions in them.
The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, declared on Wednesday afternoon that he would cease all engagements in the formation of Kosovo's institutions, following the initiative to dismiss him from the post of party leader. In a message addressed, as he put it, to the membership, voters and the people of Kosovo, Abdixhiku emphasized that recent developments force him to temporarily withdraw from the political negotiation process.
"Because of this initiative, I must inform you that I am forced to discontinue all commitments to the formation of the institutions of the Republic," he declared.
According to him, in the current circumstances, it would not be serious nor responsible to negotiate on behalf of the LDK, as his mandate to lead the party has been put into question within the political entity itself.
"Under these circumstances, due to this initiative, it would not be serious nor responsible to negotiate on behalf of the LDK, as my mandate to lead it has been put into question within my own home," he said.
Abdixhiku said that, no matter how difficult the situation is, he does not believe that talks on the formation of institutions were the reason for the rush to call the LDK extraordinary assembly.

However, according to him, now that the Assembly has been convened, it takes precedence over any other political commitment.
"Unfortunately, the citizens of Kosovo will suffer the most from this situation, but also the LDK itself," he said.
The LDK leader emphasized that respecting the initiated procedure does not mean remaining silent about the circumstances in which this initiative is being developed.
According to Abdixhiku, the initiative for his dismissal comes at a critical moment for both the LDK and the country, precisely at a time when talks are taking place on the formation of institutions.
"It comes during talks on the formation of institutions, when we should not have any worries or spend time on other issues, except for building state institutions," Abdixhiku declared.
Abdixhiku announced that, following the initiative to call an extraordinary Assembly and dismiss him, he has authorized the LDK Secretary General to immediately initiate procedures for holding this Assembly.
He described this initiative as a "battle for chairs", expressing regret that, according to him, attention is being diverted from the process of forming institutions and is being focused on internal developments in the party.
"I regret having to turn the spotlight away from myself in a battle that could irreparably damage us from within and leave Kosovo without institutions, potentially even facing new elections in the fall," Abdixhiku declared.
According to him, the LDK should be "the home of citizens' interests, not of appetites for the mayor and the mayor's chair."
"Let them take it, after all, but they could have done it more carefully. These people will act. This house is not defined by those who designed its extinction and who in every minimal crack project maximum discord. This house is built only by its membership," said Abdixhiku.
"I did not ask for this battle, but I will not run away. No position is greater than the trust of the people and none of us is greater than the LDK," he said.
Signatures are submitted for the call for the Extraordinary Assembly of the LDK
A few hours before Abdixhiku addresses LDK supporters, the elected MP of this party, Armend Zemaj, and the head of the second branch of this party in Pristina, Florian Dushi, submitted on Wednesday the collected signatures for the call for the party's Extraordinary Assembly.
The initiative was launched with the request to dismiss Lumir Abdixhiku from the position of party leader, after LDK again came in third in the June 7 elections.
And Lutfi Haziri, who is the party's vice president, said that the signatures will be verified and the request will be processed.
"Political requests are not handled through procedures. But since there are such norms and they regulate our behavior and organization, we respect them until the end. We think that work will continue on two tracks: the first track is the review of the request of the undersigned who are delegates/representatives of the LDK electorate and the second track is the LDK president who is in office with full powers to manage political processes," said Haziri.
And after the signatures were submitted, elected MP Avdullah Hoti, one of those dissatisfied with the LDK leadership, also reacted on Facebook.
"The strength of the LDK is the will of the membership, not the ambition of individuals. No one is above the LDK and its membership," he wrote.
Hoti is one of the LDK MPs who have publicly called for changes in the party's leadership and orientation.
Elected MP Arben Gashi, one of the first to hold Abdixhiku accountable for the result, also reacted. He said that the request to convene the LDK Assembly and raise the issue of a vote of confidence is an exercise of internal democracy and political responsibility.
"After three electoral processes, the message of the electorate is clear: LDK needs reflection, decision-making and vision for its return as a leading force in Kosovo. This is not a battle against an individual, but a demand for a higher political standard, for accountability and for a stronger LDK," Gashi wrote in reaction. "The Assembly is the place where democracy decides. There the direction of the LDK must be determined, with courage, responsibility and vision. For an LDK that unites, leads and wins again."
According to the LDK statute, the Extraordinary Assembly must be held 60 days from the date of submission of signatures.

"The LDK Assembly is also convened when requested by 1/3 (one third) of the delegates who make up the Assembly. The Assembly convened according to the previous paragraph is held within 60 days from the date the written request is submitted," the statute states.
Haziri said that the request to call an Extraordinary Assembly is procedurally handled by the party secretariat.
"Procedurally, the secretariat handles it, according to internal political norms. I believe that this is an issue that the LDK statute has regulated and the LDK knows how to self-manage this entire political process, from which we will emerge better in the end," he said and refused to answer the question about the possibility of dismissing Abdixhiku. "You are prejudiced, you are judging us through questions."
The LDK assembly has 354 delegates, plus the president.
Three branches of the LDK had requested Abdixhiku's resignation last month: the one in Peja, Lipjan, and the second in Pristina.
Abdixhiku had rejected this request.
The collection of signatures for his dismissal began on July 1.
The LDK held an Extraordinary Assembly on January 31, following the December 28 elections, where Abdixhiku himself offered his resignation. In the vote of confidence held, he was reconfirmed in his position.
LVV and LDK have reached an agreement in principle on the formation of institutions
The LDK assembly is being sought by a part of its membership, while there has been an effort between its current leaders and the LVV to reach an agreement on the creation of new institutions. In fact, KOHË's sources announced on Wednesday that in a meeting a few days ago that lasted more than two hours, Lumir Abdixhiku, Vjosa Osmani and Albin Kurti agreed in principle on the formation of institutions and the division of positions in them.
This has not been officially confirmed by any entity, but according to information provided by KOHA, the Democratic League would be included in the governing coalition, taking on the position of First Deputy Prime Minister and three Ministers. Also, according to KOHA's sources, the LDK would also take on the position of Speaker of the Parliament.
Meanwhile, Vetëvendosje will propose the name of the president.
"The agreement has been reached, but this reconciliation between the parties has not yet been formalized due to problems within the LDK," the source told KOHA.
From the group of 18 MPs, six MPs have expressed dissatisfaction with Abdixhiku: Avdullah Hoti, Hykmete Bajrami, Kujtim Shala, Armend Zemaj, Janina Ymeri and Arben Gashi.
KOHA contacted all six to see if they would provide a quorum for president in the event of an LVV-LDK agreement. Only Ymeri responded, denying that there is such an agreement.
"There is time for this response. No agreement has been reached so far," Ymeri declared.
If all of them do not agree to at least stay in the room when the president is voted on, then the agreement will not be implemented.
In the June 7 elections, Vetëvendosje, which came first, secured 53 seats. LDK, which came third, won 18 seats in the Assembly.
An agreement between these two parties guarantees 71 votes. With the deputies of minority communities, the threshold of 80 votes is ensured to enable the election of the president.
During a remote clash between members of the LDK branch in Podujeva, assemblyman Ermal Osmani, through a Facebook post, said that the branch chairman, Ekrem Hyseni, in order to preserve his position, is offering positions in this department to various party members on behalf of the future Minister of Health.
"By promising positions, deputy ministers, jobs and favors, supposedly in the name of the minister, he has lost credibility. After seven lost elections, both he and his boss in Pristina, the only success they have achieved is defeat. Now, by exerting pressure on the branch delegates in every form, they are trying to keep their position," Osmani wrote on Facebook.
Even during the talks on the presidential election held in April between Kurti and Abdixhiku, they announced that similar ideas were discussed.
At that time, Kurti had offered the LDK the position of Deputy Prime Minister, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and three other ministries. After Abdixhiku refused, Kurti made him another offer - that the LDK take the position of Speaker of the Assembly, in exchange for the Deputy Speaker and votes for the president.
