The Democratic League of Kosovo is the only party out of the three opposition parties that has left open the "doors of cooperation" with the Vetëvendosje Movement and the acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, for the formation of institutions.
Its chairman will meet with Kurti today in a second meeting in an attempt to reach an agreement on the formation of institutions. Lumir Abdixhiku's meeting with Kurti is expected to begin at 18:00 PM.
The winning party of the June 7 elections, VV, sent invitations to the other three Albanian parliamentary parties the day before. The meeting was immediately rejected by the Democratic Party and the Alliance.
"Referring to our meeting of July 10, 2026 and the public position of the PDK, I reconfirm that, in the current circumstances, our position is to continue to remain in opposition. We expect that you, in accordance with the responsibilities that arise from the elections of June 7, 2026, together with the other parties represented in the Kosovo Assembly, will reach an agreement on the creation of new institutions for the country," reads the response that the leader of the PDK, Bedri Hamza, sent to the leader of Vetëvendosje, Albin Kurti.
And in the response of the Alliance's chairman, Ardian Gjini, it is stated that this party is ready to contribute to the formation of institutions if the government program includes the six conditions it previously set, which it has called strategic. The Alliance has ruled out participation in the Government and even the meeting as options.

Kurti interested in cooperation with LDK, Abdixhiku for institutional balance
"We have set six points that we believe are of vital interest to Kosovo and its citizens, and we have not received any direct or indirect response to them. Therefore, the Alliance sees no reason at all for us to meet in this format," Gjin's response states.
LDK spokesman Besian Mustafa has confirmed the meeting between acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti and LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku.
Days ago, at the LDK Assembly, in which Abdixhiku was reconfirmed as chairman, a decision was made that obliges elected deputies to contribute to the formation of new state institutions and to act in accordance with each decision of the structures.
Before the party assembly, several elected LDK deputies opposed Abdixhiku's talks with Kurti.
Before this assembly, Abdixhiku had his first meeting with Kurti. Both expressed optimism about continuing the talks. However, the negotiations were suspended due to the LDK Assembly.
Vetëvendosje has 53 MPs, while LDK has 18. As a single party, with the votes of non-majority communities alone, VV can form a majority for the Government and the Assembly. But for the president, 80 MPs are needed in the chamber in the first two rounds.
The constitution of the Assembly is scheduled for August 6th.
