The Democratic League of Kosovo has condemned the violence that occurred today in a cafe in Skenderaj where the head of the Vetëvendosje Movement branch, Hysni Mehani, and an activist were beaten, expressing concern about, as it is said, the dangerous climate of hate speech, threats and digital terror in the country.
In its response, the LDK assesses that divisive and denigrating rhetoric, which according to the party has become normalized in the public and digital space, is violating public safety and creating an environment where violence can be seen as an acceptable means of political confrontation.

Letter to the Reader — Why We're Asking for Your Support Contribute"Hate speech produces tension, undermines public safety and creates an environment where violence risks being seen as an acceptable means of political confrontation. This is unacceptable for a democratic republic," the reaction states.
The LDK has emphasized that political disagreements must remain within democratic, institutional and civic norms, adding that Kosovo needs political debate and a competition of ideas, not lynching, intimidation or attacks on political opponents.
The party has called on all political actors, institutions and society to contribute to maintaining a peaceful democratic climate and respecting the culture of public communication.
The LDK has emphasized that Kosovo needs political prudence, state responsibility and the rule of law, while demanding that every act of violence, hate speech and attempt at political intimidation be clearly rejected by all.
Mehani has accused the mayor of Skenderaj, Sami Lushtaku, of attacking him along with his gang.
