The Assembly of Kosovo approved on Friday evening in the second reading the Draft Law on the Sovereign Fund.

62 deputies of the government, as many as were present in the hall, voted in favor of this draft law, none against and no abstentions.

As part of the Draft Law on the Sovereign Fund in the second reading, 47 amendments were included.

The Government of Kosovo has said that the Sovereign Fund will be a new and effective mechanism for directing investments, improving corporate governance, raising competitiveness and quality, increasing skills and employment, as well as eliminating misuse and corruption in the sector. public enterprises.

The Sovereign Fund will take over the strategic assets of Kosovo. The fund will have the exclusive responsibility for investments in increasing the value of Trepça, KEK, Tëngjilli Corporation, PTK.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti, after the Assembly said yes to the formation of the Sovereign Fund, in an article on Facebook said that Kosovo is being placed on the financial map of the region and Europe.

"With this decision, we put Kosovo on the financial map of the region and Europe and laid the foundation for creating a legacy for future generations. The Sovereign Fund will work to strengthen the country's public enterprises and transform them into powerful corporations of the country and beyond. Kurti also said that the Government is waiting for a lot of work within this fund.

"The law is only the first step, as the Government has a lot of work to do in building the organizational structure of the Sovereign Fund and deepening reforms in the public sector for the preparation of enterprises that will be incorporated as assets of the Sovereign Fund. For this we will continue to work with local and international experts and learn from the best international experiences of sovereign funds in Europe and the world, but also in the initiative to create the legal framework for the capital market in Kosovo. he added.
