The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has said that the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vučić, is not signing the Brussels Agreement, in order to, according to him, leave open an opportunity to return to Kosovo. He called for the agreement to be signed urgently.
In the discussion panel on the security challenges for the Western Balkans, organized by the Chatham House institute on Monday, Kurti added that the European Union should carefully review the democratic reformation of the Western Balkan countries, so that, according to him, the risk of any potential tension.
"The signing of the Agreement between Kosovo and Serbia is more urgent than ever. The agreement we have is not complete, as we need a bonafide agreement (in good faith) to have legitimacy and its implementation. By not signing it, Vuçiqi will keep open the option of invading Kosovo. I cannot see any other substantial meaning of this refusal to sign, apart from this, they want to keep this door open, so that they have other windows to return and repeat the aggression", said Kurti.
According to him, Serbia is using the aggression in Kosovo in order to maintain relations with Russia and China.
"Serbia uses aggression in Kosovo to maintain good relations with Russia and China, since both are aggressors who do not trust anyone and must always prove themselves. So, with the aggression against Kosovo, Vuçiqi is trying to maintain good relations with the Kremlin", he said.

According to Kurti, Serbia has taken steps backwards on the path of integration into the European Union, but he emphasized that "it cannot hold back the countries of the region".
"A state cannot hold back other states, Serbia is holding the region back. Serbia recognizes Bosnia and Herzegovina de jure but not de facto. Like Montenegro", added the Prime Minister of Kosovo.
Kurti added that the agreement with Serbia is possible, but said that it must sign it.
"We have a normalization agreement with Serbia, but we must respect and implement it. In my impression, Serbia says yes to the agreement, but without signing it", he said, emphasizing that in the Western Balkans "there is no more nationalism of the masses as fuel for war machines for dictators".

Kurti warns of "revenge" from Serbia
Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that the attack like in Banjska could be repeated, but he said that so far it has not happened because of the joint patrols between the Kosovo Police and NATO soldiers.
"It is likely that there will be an attack, but the terrorists must count on the Kosovo policemen, on the NATO soldiers who are infinitely tolerant. And I believe that this is the main reason why we still do not have another attack like Banjska. They did not attack us again because they saw joint patrols of Kosovo and NATO and we have to work hard against security threats", said the head of the Government in the discussion on the security of the Western Balkans.
He emphasized that they are cooperating with allies in maintaining security.
Meanwhile, for the membership of the Western Balkan countries in the EU, Kurti added that the reform of the EU would be done through enlargement, saying that Brussels should talk more with the people than with the leaders.

"The European Union and Russia have a history of expansion, but the Russian Federation has not hesitated to expand through violence, and the EU has not hesitated to expand peacefully... He added that 2024 is a year with multiple crises "but with great opportunities".
