Kurti: Ukshin Hoti remains a political and intellectual compass for generations of academics

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has remembered the activity of Ukshin Hoti on the 23rd anniversary of his disappearance.

Through a post on Facebook, he wrote that 23 years of absence and unfilled emptiness have taken place for the patriotic activity and the intellectual politician, Ukshin Hoti.

Kurti said that after his last release from prison, he was sent to an unknown place, adding that his fate and whereabouts are unknown today.

"It has been 23 years since the kidnapping and disappearance after the release of Professor Ukshin Hoti. But one of the nation's brightest minds cannot disappear. The true scientist of politics, Ukshin Hoti, is in the work he left. In his three books that will live on after us: 'Political philosophy of the Albanian issue', 'Cold war and detente' and 'Conversation through bars'", wrote Kurti.

He said that Hoti remains an ethical, political and intellectual compass for generations of Albanian academics and politically engaged citizens.

Kurti has added that Hoti is one of the 1617 people who disappeared violently in the Republic of Kosovo, from the last war.

"In search of missing persons during the war in Kosovo, excavations began last week in the vicinity of the Mine in Shtaval, near Sijenica, in the territory of Serbia. The delegation of the Republic of Kosovo for talks on the issue of missing persons has continuously asked the representatives of the institutions of Serbia to share information on the location of the persons who disappeared violently during the war. The delegation is led by Andin Hoti, who also heads the Governmental Commission for Missing Persons. Andini was 12 years old when he saw his father, Ukshini, for the last time. He had given her the last hug through the shutters. He has grown up with the pain and anxiety that families have been facing for 23 years. This pain and this anxiety of families grows every day more and more", wrote Kurti.

Kurti said that they have pledged and taken it as their primary duty to insist on Serbia, as responsible for his disappearance, and every other citizen, so that the fate of those who disappeared violently during the war is revealed as soon as possible.

"We bow before the memory of Baca Ukë, before the Hoti family and all the families who feel the deep absence of their loved ones every day. We owe the restoration of justice to every family in Kosovo, but above all to our authenticity and stability as a state and as a people," he wrote.
