Kurti aims for 60% in the elections: With work, sincerity and dedication it is possible

Albin Kurti

The candidate for prime minister from the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, has stated that his party aims to reach up to 60 percent of the vote in the June 7 elections, describing this objective as achievable with "work, sincerity and dedication."

During his speech at the party's General Council on Saturday where he was nominated for prime minister, Kurti said that the increase in support for Vetëvendosje is continuous and, according to him, if the growth trend continues as in recent months, the party could get closer to this result.

"From February to December last year, we grew by 9%, if we grow by the same amount from December to June, we can reach 60%. If we work as well as we know how, with sincerity and dedication, this is undoubtedly possible," he said.

He accused the opposition of blocking institutional processes, saying that its actions have not defeated the people, but have aimed to obstruct the state. According to Kurti, new elections were not necessary, but he added that they may be necessary for some political factors, but not for the people.

"Every time they block us, we are growing. They are getting a stronger response from the people. We did not need these elections. Maybe someone, some strategist who directs the opposition's actions from the shadows, thinks that elections are necessary. Maybe they are for someone, but not for the people and the state. This is happening because we have an opposition that has realized that it cannot defeat the people, but has chosen to block the state. The will of the people is not constitutional, it is a force of history that leads us forward," he declared.

In his speech, Kurti also emphasized that his government remains committed to European values and the fight against corruption, adding that European integration is not just a political objective, but part of the identity and values of society.

"Europe for Kosovo is not a simple station, but a value that we hold within us," declared Kurti, adding that the Government is building institutions based on justice, dignity and the fight against crime and corruption.

He further expressed his honor to be nominated for prime minister again. He promised that with the support of the people, they will overcome the "absurd challenges" that are looming before them.

"It is a great honor and responsibility. This is a historical obligation that I have towards you. It is an obligation that we have towards the Albanian nation and our Republic. We will fulfill this duty and no one will stop us. We have our eyes on the progress of our nation. Without your massive support, we would not have been able to overcome the social and historical difficulties that have presented themselves to us in the past. With your support, we will overcome every obstacle, including these absurd challenges that are presenting themselves to us now. We are in another campaign, in another confrontation with the past, which will never die without trying once again to take our breath away. We are here unbroken, with clean hands and open faces", Kurti concluded.
