Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that he believes that going to early elections is not an option and that electing a president requires will and willingness to compromise.

"We have entered the last part of April, and we have a challenging deadline ahead of us, going to early parliamentary elections, I believe, is not an option, and the election of the president is a constitutional duty of the people's elected representatives. This requires a will for solutions, a readiness for compromise and difficult decisions," Kurti declared at the Government meeting, adding that the elections will not bring changes to the result.

He said that discussions on electing the president should be based on the positions won in past elections.

"We know that there is no party that can claim to win 80 or more MPs, therefore the election results must be accepted and from these positions honest and reasonable discussions should be held in the best interest of our country. We are open to a solution that responds to the will of the citizens," Kurti said.

He said that Kosovo needs institutional stability, as he put it, "especially in this time of turmoil from geopolitical developments."

Prime Minister Albin Kurti and LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku will meet again today at 11:00 in the Parliament premises on the issue of electing the president. This announced meeting is the fifth in a row between them in function of this issue.
