Kurti: The US should not wait to see Belgrade through DASH's eyes

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti

Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that the US should not expect him to see Belgrade through the eyes of the State Department.

According to him, the USA and Serbia have mutual recognition, adding that Serbia committed genocide in Kosovo and the USA was a witness.

"I don't expect the USA to see the official Belgrade through the eyes of Albin Kurti, but neither should they expect me to see the official Belgrade through the eyes of the State Department. Therefore, I think that I know Serbia better and I cannot have the same attitude or sensitivity as the US State Department. Therefore, I think that we should talk, but this does not mean that we are identical", he said in "Public Square".

Kurti has said that his ambitions for the Republic of Kosovo are greater than those of Washington and Brussels.

According to him, this is normal.

"What future can we expect for our state and our nation if the internationals have bigger ambitions for us than we do for our people", he said.

Kurti has said that the expected results are not as far as the dialogue with the Kosovo Serbs is concerned, as he had promised before taking the mandate of the prime minister.

According to him, this is because on the one hand there was an overreaction on the part of Belgrade and on the other hand, according to him, because part of the Government's work has not been made public.

He stated that there is not a day that he does not meet Serbian citizens of Kosovo.

"Their first and last request as they leave the meeting is that there be no photographs, communiques and names not be mentioned. Serbs who integrate into the Kosovo system, remove the black olive if they go to Serbia. It is very difficult for Kosovo Serbs to say that they have met with Prime Minister Kurti. It hurts my heart that I am not able to protect the Serbs who are integrating in Kosovo", he said.

While speaking about relations with the states of the region that have Albanian leaders, the Prime Minister of the Government added that they continue to have non-identical attitudes towards official Belgrade and different sensitivities.

According to him, if you look at the Albanians in the Balkans wherever they are in the political scenes, the differences they have in their attitudes towards the official Belgrade, then turn into obstacles to cooperation with each other.

"In a way, the conflict between the Albanian nation and Belgrade is not over yet", he said, adding that the differences between the states of the region with Albanian leaders in relation to this conflict in relation to Serbia have turned into internal obstacles.
