Kurti: Salaries will increase from January

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has stated that from 2025 there will be an increase in salaries in the public sector.

He declared on Tuesday in front of the media that from January it will be a part of the salary increase, and from July 2025 it will be the second part of the increase.

"For next year, we also have good news for all public sector employees...now in 2025, it will be the third year that we increase salaries. Salaries are increasing every year, in accordance with what is provided by the Law on Public Finances. So the salary increase must be in line with the economic growth....Taking into account the need to support mostly those who have lower salaries, we have gone to the maximum allowed in the budget increase for salaries...Ta increase the coefficient by one unit. The value of the coefficient remains the same, but the units increase", said Kurti.

Kurti has said that any public official who currently has a salary coefficient of 5.6 will be 6.1 in January and 6.6 in July.

"All employees in the public sector will have their salaries increased by 55 euros from January and 110 euros from July. The full annual cost of this increase will be 120 million euros", stated Prime Minister Kurti.

He said that in 2025 budget revenues are expected to be 3.3 billion, saying that compared to 2020, this is an increase of 90 percent.

According to Kurt, the budget for expenses is expected to be 3.6 billion euros.

According to Kurti, Kosovo has managed to increase the gross domestic product and exceed the figure of 10 billion euros for four years of governance, and in 2025 he said it will exceed the figure of 11 billion euros.

"The trend is continuing where one billion euros is added to the economy of Kosovo every year", he added.

Kurti further stated that so far over 75.000 new jobs have been added, registered in official figures.

"We tried to return the budget money to the citizens, with efficient public services and family support. This has turned into economic growth and more budget...With our good and democratic governance, salaries are increasing every year, just as the law provides", he said.

"The salary increase is expected from January. This time we have decided that the budget is maximized for the salary increase and that budget we had we decided to distribute it in absolute value. We are also maintaining fiscal stability, but working professionals benefit the most from this increase.
