Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti said at today's Government meeting that among the points we have a special one and that is the request for expropriation of real estate for the construction of the industrial zone in Gjakova. With the approval of this, Kurti said that they will pave the way for the ammunition factory, the first of its kind in Kosovo.
"This will increase security, strengthen the army and increase our capacities. It makes it even more special that we are approving it on the Day of Force. The construction of this factory will be completed within the next year. The first ammunition will be produced at the end of 2026. This industrial zone will also serve other investors that we are in contact with for various types of military products, military and civilian drones 'Made in Kosovo'", he said.
Kurt has declared that they have quadrupled the defense budget and doubled the number of soldiers.
"We have equipped the army with new and modern systems from NATO member states. Over 430 million euros in weapons purchases during this mandate. In the next mandate, we will invest over 1 billion euros. By increasing the army, we secure the Republic, by increasing the security force, we strengthen the partnership with allies," he said.
Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, has said that the Kosovo Security Force is in another dimension and stage.
Speaking about the industrial zone where the ammunition factory is expected to be built, he said that opportunities will be created to accommodate local weapons manufacturers.

"Today, as we mark Force Day, we have already reached 430 million euros for the purchase of weapons systems. The KSF is in a completely different dimension and stage. This defense industrial zone will aim to support the ammunition factory but will also have the opportunity to accommodate many of our manufacturers... it will also be a segment of economic growth...", he said.
