Kurti: Kosovo ready to further strengthen relations with the US in the field of defense

The acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has thanked the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy, David Baker, and the US for the vital support they have provided to Kosovo and the Kosovo Security Forces over the years. 

Kurti added that the Government of Kosovo is ready and willing to further strengthen relations with the US in the field of defense, including the defense industry. 

Kurti and Baker met at a working dinner hosted by the acting Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci. Baker was accompanied by the chargé d'affaires at the US Embassy in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati. 

"Prime Minister Kurti briefed Deputy Assistant Secretary Baker on the developments and progress in the country, investments in defense during this mandate, and the need to increase trade exchanges and increase investments. He thanked Mr. Baker and the United States of America for the vital support they have provided to the Republic of Kosovo and the Kosovo Security Force over the years, as well as for its continued role in security and peace. The Prime Minister also expressed the readiness and full willingness of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to further strengthen relations with the United States in the field of defense, including the defense industry," the Prime Minister's Office announced. 

Previously, Baker met with the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, and was then received by the Acting Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci.

The Macedonian also said that Kosovo is committed to further advancing its partnership with the US. 

"In the context of global dynamics, we discussed the challenges of security and peace in the region and beyond. We emphasized the significant progress that has been made since our last meeting, especially regarding co-production initiatives with the United States and the development of the defense industry in Kosovo, a sector known for its considerable potential for growth. We confirmed the partnership between our two countries and emphasized our commitment to further strengthen this cooperation. With the United States as our reliable partner, Kosovo enjoys increased security and plays an important role in promoting peace and stability, both regionally and globally. We are committed to advancing this partnership to even higher levels!" - wrote the Macedonian on Facebook.
