Kurti apologizes for the math mistake: I wouldn't get a passing grade if I were a student

Albin Kurti

(Article updated with Kurt's apology) - Prime Minister Albin Kurti made a mistake in solving a mathematical task at the inauguration of a school in the Municipality of Podujeva. Despite this, everyone present applauded him, including the Minister of Education, Arbërie Nagavci. After the mistake went viral on social networks, Prime Minister Kurti apologized.

On Wednesday, the municipality of Podujeva inaugurated two new school facilities, in Dumosh and Obrançe. During the inauguration, Prime Minister Kurti tried to solve a mathematical problem in a class.
It is an equation with one unknown (X).

-(3x) – (-5) = (-5x) – (-2) +3

According to Prime Minister Kurti, which can also be seen in the photo published by the Municipality of Podujeva's Facebook page, X turned out to be equal to 5.

But the solution is different. X in this case is 0 (zero).

This is also proven by the proof of duty.

What should be the solution:

-(3X) – (-5) = (-5X) – (-2) +3
-3X + 5 = -5X + 2 + 3
-3X + 5X = 5 - 5
2X = 0
X = 0

Online calculators also prove this.

In the images that circulated online, it can be seen that after Kurti "solves" the task, he receives applause from those present.

After the mistake went viral, in a post on Facebook, Kurti apologized. He said that he would not get a passing grade if he were a student.

"Thank you for the warm welcome in your new school building. Your joy today made me long for school banks. But I have to say that now I'm glad I wasn't a student at the time, because I wouldn't have gotten a passing grade. The simple mathematical equation seemed to me from the first second that it has the solution x=5; so five, but the five I wish for you. If I thought about it a bit, I would see that the correct solution is x=0, but in that case, I don't think I would bother to pick up the chalk and write on the blackboard in your classroom. I apologize. The solution to that equation, as you know better than your prime minister, is x=0", wrote Kurti.

Meanwhile, in the announcement of the Prime Minister's Office for the inauguration of new schools, it was said that the financial value of the school "Musli Dumoshi" in the village of Dumosh is over 584 thousand euros, while the value of investments in the school "Ali Hadri" is nearly 500 thousand.

"I wish that this school, and any other in our country, will be a source of inspiration for every child, to embrace knowledge and seek the best from themselves, from society, from the world... and together with the flow of the Dumnica river, I also saw your successes unstoppable", said the Prime Minister in his speech.
