Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that the justice authorities have evidence that the assistant director of the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Igor Popović, has connections to the Serbian Security and Intelligence Agency, BIA.
According to Kurti, he has carried out activities for the benefit of the BIA, including the illegal recording of conversations on September 17, 2020, which took place in Brussels within the framework of the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.

The recording of the conversations in Brussels, according to Kurti, is "an extremely serious case that reveals a form that we have not encountered before, the systematic destructive, undermining and sabotaging approach of Serbia in relation to the parties, the mediator and the process itself mediated by Brussels."
"Our aggressive neighbor Serbia is continuing its efforts to destabilize our country. However, the intelligence and security institutions of the Republic of Kosovo are successfully countering these efforts. This includes the arrests of responsible persons, such as the cases of Bojan Jevtic, lieutenant in the Kosovo Police, and Igor Popovic," Kurti emphasized.
Popovic is suspected of the criminal offense of "Inciting discord and intolerance."
He is suspected of having called the KLA a terrorist organization on July 18 in the village of Hoçë e Madhe, Rahovec, during a speech to local Serbs, while also accusing the international community of, as he said, silence towards the perpetrators of crimes against Serbs. under suspicion that he gave a speech against the KLA.
Popovic was arrested on July 19 at the border crossing with Serbia, Brnjak.
