The flame of January is not only the commemoration of the pain for the loss of our heroes in the fight for freedom, but at the same time it is also the light of the flame that illuminates the path of our generation and the generations to come for a bright future of our homeland.
This was said at the Academy of January 2022 in the framework of the 31st anniversary of the national cultural manifestation "Flaka e Janari" tonight in Gjilan.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that January is the month of pain in Albanian history.
He mentioned the death of the national hero Skenderbeu in 1468, the assassination of Isa Boletini in 1916, the death of Ismail Qemajli in 1919, the fall of Rexhep Mala and Nuhi Berisha in 1984, the massacre in Recak in 1999, all of which occurred in January.
"As descendants of entire generations of the Albanian National Movement in the Albanian lands, we constantly receive energy from the fire kept burning with their life, work and death by Gjon Sereçi, Metush Krasniqi and the great Adem Demaçi with friends and many friends of the Albanian National Movement , we get light from the Flame of January of Yusuf, Kadri, Bardhoshi, Rexhep, Nuhi, Zijah, Bajram, Afrim, Fadil and thousands of fallen activists in different eras to the Liberation War of Adem Jashar and the KLA and thousands of fallen martyrs for the Freedom of Kosovo", said Kurti.
Taking as an example the activity of Jusuf e Bardhosh Gërvalla and Kadri Zeka in the democratic outside world, through which international opinion was informed about the oppression of Albanians in the former Yugoslavia, Kurti spoke about the important role of the Albanian diaspora, which was becoming a force with great political, economic, and intellectual potential for the Albanian National Movement, which culminated in the liberation war in Kosovo in 1998 and 1999.

"The bequest of the Revivalists that only the union of pens and rifles brings the freedom of the people, was realized for the first time in the Albanian lands by Jusufi, Kadriu and Bardhoshi and their friends. Together with the commemoration of Yusuf, Kadri and Bardhoshi, today and forever, we remember and honor all those sons and daughters, women and men, girls and boys, who with their lives kept the flame of Freedom burning through the centuries. We must learn from their lives, deeds and oath for the homeland, therefore all ordinary citizens and bearers of state functions, we must be united to carry the legacy of our martyrs and heroes to the country", said Kurti.
Then Prime Minister Kurti, accompanied by the mayor of the Municipality of Gjilan, Alban Hyeni, visited the collective exhibition of visual art within the "Flaka e Janari" manifestation.
Otherwise, "Flaka e Janari" is a cultural festival, which begins on January 11 in Gjilan with the symbolic lighting of the flame, to continue until January 31 with various cultural activities./KSP
