Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti has reiterated the Vetevendosje Movement's position that the next president of Kosovo should be a consensual figure, with the broadest possible political and civic support.
Kurti has said that he wants to reach an agreement with other political parties on this issue, in order to avoid new elections.
"You have in mind the position of LVV, as the winner of the elections, is that the next president should be consensual, with the broadest possible support in the Assembly and among the people. He should be a personality who has merit and contribution, national and civic value, but also proven in the profession and society," Kurti said on Friday after the graduation of 100 new cadets in the Correctional Service.
He added that the goal is to avoid the possibility of new elections through an agreement for the president.
"We want to reach an agreement on this, in order to avoid new elections," Kurti said.
