The relocation of the market to Obiliq is opposed

The decision of the Municipal Assembly of Obiliq to move the city's market facilities to another place is being opposed by the users of the premises there. Apart from the fact that they said that no one asked them about this decision, the place where it is now thought to build these premises, according to the traders, is unacceptable. The opposition party, Vetëvendosje, has also come against this decision, according to which this action of the municipality paves the way for every citizen to request the deployment of the administration facility tomorrow.

The councilors of Obiliq have decided to move the buildings that were built in the name of the city market. The decision was taken by the Assembly in its first session a week ago, and the users of the facilities say that they were not notified. They complain that they will be forced to close their businesses if the communes decide to implement the decision.

"No one has asked us. It is not acceptable when we do not know where they take the market, where they transfer it. If they transfer it there, as I've heard, it won't matter to us, neither as a market nor as a service. There is no chance to get there, how to cross (the railroad)", said Besnik Mjekiqi, who has been working in one of these bars for about a year.

Even the owner of the "Toli" sheet metal shop, Mentor Kurteshi, has said that no one has informed him about the relocation of the market facilities to another location. He has considered unacceptable the decision to build the market across the railway.

"No one has notified us. This decision is unacceptable for us. If the municipality implements this decision, we will be forced to close the bar because we have nowhere to go. The place where it is assigned is unsuitable for us. We have been here for a year. We also worked in the old market", said Kurteshi.

The request to the Municipality for the removal of these objects was made by Reis Sallova. KOHA contacted Sallova to get the reason for his request, but initially he said that he was busy and that he would be notified shortly, and then he did not answer the phone calls.

The director for Urban Planning, Cadastre and Property, Arben Berisha, did not answer the phone calls either.

Meanwhile, officials of the Vetëvendosje Movement in this municipality are suspicious of the ruling party's decision to relocate the market facilities, since, according to them, Reis Sallova is also a private builder.

"This request came to the Committee for Politics and Finance only as a request of the interested person. Meanwhile, we as KPF have requested that it be reviewed by the directorate and that the directorate come with additional information regarding this request. In this form, only a few minutes before the beginning of the session, this material came to us, for which we did not have the opportunity to examine it, nor did we know the exact space where that market is expected to be deployed", said Sami Ahmeti, head of to the group of LVV parliamentarians in Obiliq.

He says that the property where the market is currently located has been expropriated by the Kosovo railway.

According to him, this investment of the Municipality is without a plan.

"If we do it in such a way, there is a possibility that someone will come and ask to relocate the municipal facility to another place, since it is hindering someone", said Sami Ahmeti.

Councilor Ahmeti also said that the current market facilities have deficiencies, such as electricity supply and other conditions for work.
