KRU "Prishtina" publishes new tariffs, water becomes more expensive

The Regional Water Supply Company "Prishtina" has published new tariffs for the period 2026-2028, tariffs that come into effect this month. 

The tariff for water supply services for household consumers is 0.63 euros per cubic meter, which is a 40% increase compared to previous tariffs. While the tariff for wastewater services is 0.12 euros per cubic meter, which is an increase of nearly 60% compared to previous tariffs. 

For commercial and institutional customers, the new tariff is 0.82 euros per cubic meter, compared to 0.62 euros in the previous tariffs, for water supply services. For wastewater services, the new tariff is 0.28 euros, compared to 0.17 euros in the old tariffs.

“Based on Law No. 05/L – 042, the WRA determines the tariffs for water supply and sewage services, ensuring that they are fair, reasonable and support the financial sustainability of service providers. Tariffs are set for: Water supply and wastewater services; Bulk raw water supply; Bulk treated water. The tariff is calculated by dividing the revenue requirement by the volume of water sold, taking into account the efficiency in revenue collection. The revenue requirement consists of three main components: operating expenses, capital maintenance and return on the Regulatory Asset Base. KRU “Prishtina” has submitted requests for the period 2026–2028, which include: Operating expenses for ensuring continuous water supply and sewage services, including increased costs for personnel and electricity; Capital projects and maintenance of the existing network and machinery, to reduce defects and interruptions in service; Investments for the modernization of assets and improvement of the quality of services for customers.
