Krasniqi: Political parties do not deal with marginalized groups as they do not bring votes

Kosovar Krasniqi from the "Youth Initiative for Human Rights" said that political parties do not mention marginalized groups during the election campaign because they do not get votes.

According to him, Kosovo urgently needs to deal with human rights.

"Today we carried out an action in the headquarters of the political parties with the aim of returning the focus of the political parties to human rights. We demand that femicide, violence, gender discrimination and others be banned... these should be included in the political agenda, there should be a more special focus on these communities and there should be respectful language in the campaign", said Krasniqi in "60 Minutes" of KTV.

Krasniqi said that the political parties do not deal with human rights at all and this, as he says, does not represent the demands of the citizens.

"Politicians have no interest in dealing with these marginalized groups as they do not bring votes. There is no concrete work that stops femicide and violence against women. None of the political parties have a concrete plan to advance human rights", he added.

Krasniqi said that there are more violations of human rights in women and then in sexual orientation.

"The phobia towards the LGBTI community is very big", Krasniqi emphasized.

He mentioned the comments of MP Duda Balje about this community, saying that "persons who are expected to advance human rights, express hate speech".

"It is very disturbing that the Assembly has not taken measures and this has also reflected on the citizens", declared Krasniqi.

Krasniqi is optimistic that the Civil Code, which also provides for same-sex marriages, will pass the Assembly during the new legislature.
