The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that it has received the petition for the dismissal of the chairman of Zubin-Potoku, Izmir Zeqiri, and that based on the legislation in force, it will verify the signatures.
CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi has confirmed this for TIME.
"I can confirm that so far we have accepted the request with signatures collected for verification by the Chairman of the Municipal Assembly of Zubin-Potoku. The CEC, in accordance with the legislation in force, will verify the list of signatures, i.e. if the signatories are citizens with the right to vote in the respective municipality", Elezi emphasized.
Signatures for the impeachment of the mayors have also been collected in Leposaviq, North Mitrovica and Zveçan.
The deadline for collecting signatures for the dismissal of the mayors in Leposaviq, North Mitrovica and Zubin-Potok has ended on January 22, while in Zveçan it will end on January 27
In order for the petition to be successful, the signatures of at least 20 percent of citizens with the right to vote are needed.
According to the data of the Central Election Commission (CEC), signatures of 1.411 voters are needed in Zveçan, signatures of 1.347 voters in Zubin-Potok, signatures of 3.640 voters in North Mitrovica and signatures of 2.689 voters in Leposaviq.
