The Central Election Commission announced that it is facing technical problems on the platform where the preliminary results of the parliamentary elections are published.
In a response to KOHA, the CEC said that due to the high interest, the site experienced system overload.
"I inform you that the CEC is collecting data after counting the ballots from the polling stations. There are evident technical problems on the platform. The data is being collected from the field and will then be published by the CEC. Due to the great interest of citizens in accessing the results platform, an overload has been caused in the system," the CEC spokesperson, Valmir Elezi, said in a statement.
He added that teams are working in the field and sending data "which we are making efforts to transmit as quickly as possible."
By the time the CEC website went down, figures showed that over 23 percent of votes had been counted, with over 50 percent of them going to Vetëvendosje. However, there have been reports that the data is incorrect.
