Acting Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, has announced that she has filed a criminal complaint against Serbian Minister Snezhana Paunović.

Gërvalla said that he has requested from the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, within the framework of legal powers, to undertake all necessary investigative actions and to proceed further with an indictment and a request for sentencing.

"There is no room for the glorification of ethnic cleansing, the relativization of genocide and monstrous Serbian crimes, and the spread of narratives that aim to undermine peace, security, and interethnic coexistence, as well as incite hatred. Public statements that aim to justify ethnic cleansing and the expulsion of a people cannot be treated as ordinary political rhetoric. They carry serious historical, legal, and human consequences," Gërvalla wrote on Facebook.

A few days ago, Snezhana Paunović, Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-Government in the Government of Serbia, declared that if she had been in Slobodan Milošević's place in 1998, she would have ethnically cleansed Kosovo.

This statement has provoked numerous reactions, both in Kosovo and Serbia, as well as in the European Union.

The only Albanian MP in Serbia, Shaip Kamberi, supported by 53 MPs, has submitted a request for her dismissal to the Prime Minister of Serbia.

The European Union has called on politicians in Serbia to refrain from inflammatory statements and respect obligations to normalize relations with Kosovo.

Even EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos has said that it is unimaginable that Snezhana Paunović continues to be a minister.
