The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, said that mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia should be an essential part of the agreement.
"We believe that only mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia is an essential part of the final agreement as a prerequisite for both countries to progress", Konjufca emphasized at the meeting of the EU-Kosovo Stabilization-Association Parliamentary Committee.
He said that the EU-mediated dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia is an important component of regional cooperation.
Konjufca said that Kosovo's application for membership in the EU was and continues to be a historical moment.
"Acceleration of the membership process is imperative. We are not asking for unfair procedures from the EU, we are only asking for strict procedures based on justice and our rights. We call on the member countries to give priority especially to expansion and also to offer them the opportunities offered to our entire region", said Konujufca.
He said that we appreciate the EU's role in promoting regional cooperation and supporting the rule of law and human rights.
Meanwhile, regarding progress, challenges and reforms, he said that there is still work to be done.
"One of the big challenges remains corruption, especially for our prosecutorial and judicial system", said Konjufca.
