Konjufca: Kosovo has fulfilled the criteria to obtain the status of a candidate country in the EU

The Speaker of the Parliament, Glauk Konjufca, has said that Kosovo has met the necessary criteria to obtain the candidate status in the European Union, in a meeting he had on Tuesday with the new head of the EU Office in Pristina, Aivo Orav. .

The meeting between Konjufca and Oravi, according to the announcement, focused on the discussion of current developments in the country and the region, Kosovo's European agenda and progress in the reform process for European integration. 

"President Konjufca, after congratulating him on his new position, informed Ambassador Orav about the work of the VIII Legislature so far, including the adoption of several very important laws related to the European Reforms Agenda, and reiterated the legislature's commitment to the continuation of reforms necessary, underlining that Kosovo has already met the criteria and is awaiting the granting of EU candidate country status. He also thanked Ambassador Orav for the EU's support to Kosovo, especially in the areas of the rule of law , democratization and strengthening of institutions", it is stated in the announcement of the Assembly.

Ambassador Orav thanked Konjufca for hosting and appreciated the progress achieved so far, according to the announcement.

"President Konjufca and Ambassador Orav expressed readiness for the intensification of mutual cooperation, as well as the continuation of legislative support in order to advance the common European agenda".
