The company 'Kelkos..' had not met the criteria for the construction of hydropower plants in Peja

The "Kelkos Energy Peja" company, which plans to build five hydropower plants in Lumbardh of Peja, has had its authorization to connect to the energy distribution system expire in 2016.

According to the Energy Regulatory Office, this company has not applied since 2013, and did not meet the conditions required by the Authorization Regulation for the construction of new capacities.

"The Board of ERO, in 2014, issued a preliminary authorization to the company, but this does not mean issuing the final authorization", said Adelina Murtezaj, spokesperson of this institution, for KTV.

And, the former mayor of Peja, Ali Berisha, who signed this agreement with the company, says that when it was signed, there were other conditions.

However, the memorandum was signed for the construction of these hydropower plants and, among other things, it is emphasized that "Kelkos Energy" is prepared to enter into an agreement with the interested parties with the recommendation of the mayor of Peja up to a 20 percent investment share.

In addition, a contract was signed between the parties for the use of the property of the Municipality, which also means the erosion of the land.

KTV has also asked the company "Kelkos Energy", but briefly over the phone its officials said that during the evaluation process, they do not give any comments.

The residents of Peja and its current leaders are against the construction of hydropower plants.
