KFOR Commander: We will act if stability, security and freedom of movement are endangered

The commander of the troops of the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR, Angelo Michele Ristuccia, has said that this mission will continue to work closely with the European Union and provide the necessary security framework for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue to move forward.

In an address to the media from the NATO headquarters in Brussels, where he met with the Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Mircea Geinana, he said that KFOR welcomes the agreement facilitated by the EU for the normalization of relations. between two countries.

"It is now essential that both parties start implementing their obligations as soon as possible", he added.

The KFOR commander further said that this mission is prepared to act if stability, security and freedom of movement are endangered.

"As KFOR commander, I will continue to play my role in supporting all efforts aimed at creating the ultimate security for future generations. I will do this in full cooperation with all relevant actors and with all my counterparts. Including the European Union, the United Nations, the OSCE, representatives of Kosovo's institutions and Kosovo's security organizations, as well as the Chief of Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces. KFOR will continue to carry out its mission. And it is fully prepared - in accordance with its UN mandate - to act if stability, security and freedom of movement are endangered", he said.

This address was made a few days before the extraordinary elections were held in the four northern municipalities in Kosovo.
