In the Clinic of Ophthalmology, new equipment was inaugurated today that was purchased in the amount of 350 thousand euros, and that this investment will affect the increase of the capacities of this clinic for the diagnosis and operation of eye diseases in Pristina.
For the first time, this clinic has been supplied with an operating microscope for the operation of the posterior segment of the eye, Cross-Linking for the treatment of pathologies of the cornea of the eye, Optical Coherence Tomography for the diagnosis of retinal diseases and some other equipment.
On the occasion of the inauguration of these devices, the Minister of Health, Uran Ismaili, said that "An investment which was made after a very long time, close to 350 thousand euros, which were invested with the aim of having more services, because this clinic in addition to the great work he has done in the absence of equipment, he had to treat patients outside public institutions and this has caused a great expenditure of our budget. Today I received a promise from the director of the clinic that they will do their best to put them into operation as soon as possible and provide services as soon as possible," he said.
The investment in equipment, according to the director of ShSKUK Basri Sejdiu, will affect that patients no longer seek treatment abroad, but receive services in this clinic.
The director of the Ophthalmology Clinic, Adem Miftari, expressed his satisfaction with the supply of new equipment, since according to him, no investment has been made in this clinic since 1983, when it was founded.
Miftari said that if they have support they can make the Ophthalmology Clinic a regional reference center for services for eye diseases.
