The Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC), in its meeting held on Thursday, elected Judge Afërdita Bytyqi as the Deputy Chairperson of the Council. Bytyqi was elected with six votes from KJC members, while Judge Artan Abazi also ran for this position, receiving five votes, EO reported.
Chairman Rrustem Thaçi announced that Bytyqi's mandate in this position will be 3 years and will begin on August 27, 2026.
At Thursday's meeting, the Judicial Council is also expected to consider the request of the acting president to address the resignations of Serbian judges who were dismissed at the end of 2022, as well as the judges' notification of the withdrawal of these resignations.
