Energy price increase of 7 percent since December 1 of this year has been requested by KEDS from the Office of the Energy Regulator.
Through the request for an extraordinary rate review, KEDS is requesting that the 7 percent increase be until the end of March, when the regular rate review takes place.
"This will be valid until the regular tariff review, which takes place at the beginning of the next year with tariffs that come into force on April 1, since the energy year we say starts on April 1 and ends on March 31 of the following year , there we will apply for our allowed revenues and for the fees that cover the costs since it is known that we are dealing with astronomical import prices which go to 300 euros per megawatt or 5-6 times higher than last year and these prices must be covered", says KEDS spokesperson, Viktor Buzhala.
The request of KEDS is being examined by ERO and there is still no decision regarding whether there will be a price increase this month.
"We cannot talk about changing prices without developing a tariff review process, even if it is extraordinary. The tariff review process means the application of the operators for review of the maximum allowed revenues, in accordance with the legislation in force, as well as the opening of the public discussion after the evaluations of the ERO regarding the requests to change these revenues. ERO is currently examining the request of KEDS, as well as the fulfillment of the conditions for opening the extraordinary examination. In the event that ERO estimates that these conditions have been met, it will notify the operators and the public in time", says ERO.
The possible increase in the price of energy has alarmed the citizens, who say that they will have difficulties to cope with the constant price increases.
"All the prices have increased, it is something that the population has difficulty affording, even the increased electricity has been a problem for our people. We have difficulties, some are on their own with a pension, some are only with a social security, some are without a salary, it is not easy for them, it is difficult for them to face all this increase", says the citizen Musli Krasniqi.
"It affects negatively, since you are thinking with small pension income, this is a disaster. That's how I barely make it, let alone raise them, this is too much. Valla does not succeed, it seems that he gave up, nothing more", says the citizen Shefqet Vokrri.
"The increase in normal electricity that will have a side effect for the entire population, considering that globalization means that prices have increased everywhere in the world, but considering that we have energy production with coal, we do not see any reason I did the increase, but these are international calculations and we the people are suffering, but we have nothing to do now", says the citizen Kreshnik Sopi.
On October 27 of this year, ERO decided not to change energy tariffs until March 31 of the following year.
But KEDS says that import prices have increased fivefold.
"This is up to ERO, we only analyze data, review them, trends, prices, we analyze all of this and ERO is the one that decides on prices, of course the calculation is that there will be a significant increase, right? whether there will be or not, this is up to ERO and it is about amounts up to 30-40 percent", said Buzhala.
After the increase in the price of imported energy, citizens have been appealed to save electricity.
