According to the verification results, in 6 cases it was found that the electricity meters had expired verification deadlines, while in 6 other cases deviations in time and date were identified.

Also, in one case, the type approval of the electric meter was revoked, while 3 other meters continue to be in the laboratory verification procedure, MINTI announced.

"Based on these findings, the Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate (IQMT) has imposed a fine on KEDS in the amount of 35 thousand euros," the ministry's announcement states.

KEDS had previously announced that all consumers damaged by possible tariff inaccuracies in electricity billing would be compensated.

This is the fourth fine against KEDS. Initially, it was fined 6 thousand euros for two meters with expired validity, and then 30.000 euros for six meters with expired validity. And 90 thousand euros for the third time.

The fines were handed out several months after KOHA reported on irregularities in electricity meters, and then the Democratic League of Kosovo also raised the alarm about this issue.

Meanwhile, in early April, the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina authorized the Police to conduct investigations regarding suspected irregularities in the electricity distributor's electricity meters.
