Four judges and the head of the PRB board resign to become notaries

At least four judges have left their posts to become notaries. This has been confirmed by the Judicial Council of Kosovo. The head of the PRB board, Vjosa Gradinaj, has also resigned from her position. The deadline for new notaries to determine whether they want to open offices or continue with their current positions is two more days.

Important public posts are seen by lawyers as less important than practicing the profession of notary.

After the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, issued a decision regarding the appointment of new notaries in various municipalities of Kosovo, public officials resigned from various public positions.

Vjosa Gradinaj Mexhuani has chaired the PRB board since last year. The Public Procurement Review Body is one of the most important institutions in the country.

This is because decisions about 400 million euros that are spent through public procurement go through PRB.

Gradinja Mexhuani left the PRB after being appointed a notary in the territory of Ferizaj.

Besides her, there have been resignations in other institutions as well. One of them is the courts. At least four judges have submitted their resignations to become notaries public.

The Judicial Council of Kosovo has not announced the names, but only confirmed the departures.

"Due to their appointment as notaries, four (4) judges have resigned", it was said by the KJC.

Two of the judges appointed as notaries are from the Commercial Court. Arnis Dumani and Saranda Kurtbogaj Sheremeti were appointed notaries on July 15 of this year.

Based on the Law on Notaries, designated notaries must resign from their positions within 30 days if they want to continue opening offices.

The deadline for these positions passes in two days and this is also determined in the decisions on their appointments.

"In accordance with Article 20 of the Law No. 06/l-100 on Notaries, the appointed person is obliged to provide the Ministry of Justice with the relevant evidence confirming the resignation within a period of 30 days from the date of entry into force of this decision her from the current official function", it was said in the appointment decision.

The selection of new notaries went through two processes.
