Chaos at Croatia's borders, migrants are facing hours-long queues

The Kosovo Embassy in Zagreb has announced the receptions on the territory of Croatia, at the border crossings with Montenegro and Serbia.

As announced in a statement, at the border between Croatia and Montenegro, precisely at the Kasasovici border crossing, the waits for entry reach up to four hours, while for exit they also last several hours and with a column several kilometers long. At the other Croatian border crossing, Vitaljina, the waits for exit are also up to about four hours.

Even on the border between Croatia and Serbia, at the Bajakovo border crossing, waits reach up to three hours and throughout the entire Croatian territory, columns have been recorded on almost all highways.

"The Mayor of the Municipality of Konavle, where the two border crossings are located, Mr. Božo Lasić, has activated the Civil Protection Headquarters. Local residents have been called upon to postpone all non-essential travel by personal vehicles, in order to reduce congestion and increase traffic safety. While the police are diverting some of the traffic to alternative routes, local residents are helping travelers by distributing water and offering them the use of toilets. Also, at the border between Croatia and Serbia, at the Bajakovo border crossing, waits can reach up to three hours," the Embassy said in a statement.

According to the announcement, the situation has also affected public transport, causing significant delays in schedules. Compatriots who used the services of the Zadar Bus Station yesterday have contacted the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Zagreb and it is reported that the delays are up to 3 hours.

Travelers and carriers are advised to take current delays and restrictions into account when planning their trips.
