Kabashi - Kurtit: Is there a parallel Serbian structure?

PDK MP Besa Kabashi-Ramaj said that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has slacked off on the implementation of the Law on Foreigners. She said that this is legitimizing the documentation issued by illegal Serbian structures.

On the "Interaktiv" show on KTV, Kabashi-Ramaj said that Kurti, by giving Serbian citizens the opportunity to obtain temporary residence for one year, is making them stakeholders in the implementation of Kosovo's laws.

"The additional measures are problematic because they allow the functioning of illegal structures in the north of Mitrovica. The documentation issued by these authorities is legitimized and makes them stakeholders in the implementation of the laws of the Republic of Kosovo. My question for Prime Minister Kurti is whether the parallel Serbian structures have been dissolved or not, whether they are stakeholders or not. This government has given up on the implementation of this law. This is the difference. Prime Minister Kurti has degraded the topic of dialogue because he has consistently said that we will not have a dialogue with Serbia," said the PDK MP.

According to MP Kabashi-Ramaj, Prime Minister Kurti, in addition to doing what he opposed, is also acting in violation of the Constitution of Kosovo.

"There is a violation of the law because Article 3 of the Constitution of Kosovo does not allow inequality. A prime minister who came to power with propaganda is not only doing what he has opposed in the past and which were not in conflict with the Constitution, but is going one step further; he is approving things that are concerning for constitutionality," Kabashi-Ramaj said.

She has also warned that the legal office within PDK will also see the need to send it to the Constitutional Court.

"We will see in the coming days. PDK has a legal team that deals intensively with these issues. We have had cases in the past that we have sent to the Constitutional Court. I believe that we will treat with the utmost attention any documentation that is made public, but such processes must definitely be transparent," said Kabashi-Ramaj.

On Monday, the full implementation of the Law on Foreigners and the Law on Vehicle License Plates began, along with the facilitations that were agreed on Saturday between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the EU envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Peter Sorensen.

Following Saturday's meeting between Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the European Union's envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, it was decided that the Law on Foreigners and the Law on Vehicle License Plates will not be immediately applied to Kosovo Serbs without Kosovo documents. They will be able to obtain temporary residence permits for up to 12 months, and use ID cards issued by parallel structures in the country as identification documents.
