The chairman of the United Union of Education, Science and Technology, Rrahman Jasharaj, has said that some students are still left without textbooks.
He said that the Ministry of Education is to blame for this, which decided that this year the textbooks would be bought by parents and subsidized by the Ministry.
Speaking about this decision, Jasharaj has stated that the biggest problem with supply is from sixth to ninth grade.
"From the reports we have, this matter has not been concluded even as of the moment I am speaking. There is a supply of textbooks, but not all of the students, and unfortunately we still have students in classes who do not have textbooks at all and another part of students who have partial textbooks. The biggest problem has been created separately with grades 6-9 because the textbooks used last year were very damaged, and some of them were not returned at all by the previous students", said Jasharaj for "Ekonomia Online".
According to the chief trade unionist, the problem with supply is happening to families with social assistance. On this occasion, Jasharaj has also mentioned a case when bookstores have conditioned citizens that "if you want the new work notebook, you must also buy the basic book".
"The workbooks were very damaged and are not usable and this has made the teachers feel bad for the students who unfortunately come to us especially from families with a difficult economic situation and their parents did not have the opportunity to buy them new notebooks. According to our information, I hope they are not correct, bookstores have presented conditions that 'if you want the new workbook, you must also buy the basic book'. So, I hope that Minister Arbërie Nagavci will have learned from this school year and not use this decision, but decide as in the past, even knowing that the textbooks are very damaged, I wish that next year we will have textbooks from 1 to 9 for free and not in bookstores, but to pay the obligations that MEST has on time", said Jasharaj.

Speaking about the conditions that the teachers have, Jasharaj suspects that this is being done deliberately by the executive. This is based on the contradictions they have encountered recently, EO reports.
"The government and the previous governments have been very vocal in their campaigns that education is their priority, the people may have expected more from the Kurti Government, which had big words about changes, but I say with all my mouth that this Government has failed in education. Much more has been expected, many nurseries have been promised, certain funds have been mentioned that will be allocated to education, but education continues with chalk and pencil.
