Rrahman Jasharaj, president of the United Union of Education, Science and Culture of Kosovo (SBASHK) has said that they requested a salary increase as early as September and that the announced increase of 55 euros for January is unacceptable.
During the day, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has declared that from 2025 there will be an increase in salaries in the public sector. He told the media on Tuesday that a public official who currently has a salary coefficient of 5.6, in January it will be 6.1 and in July 6.6, reports "Oath of Justice".
"All employees in the public sector will have their salaries increased by 55 euros from January and 110 euros from July. The full annual cost of this increase will be 120 million euros", stated Kurti.
Regarding this, the head of the SBASHK in the discussion meeting organized by the Kosovo Institute for Law where the report "Lack of Collective Contracts - Failure to ensure social dialogue and collective protection of workers" was published, said that this increase is unacceptable.
"As for the increase, we don't have anything official, but we have insisted from Mr. Kurti and (Minister of Finance, Hekuran) Murat that the increase should be in last September, be at least this October and be at least 30% . Because the increases that were made at the beginning of this year from 105-110 were ironic, because in pre-university education they ensured an increase of 28 euros, and I am saying that one is ashamed to accuse a neighboring country because some of the countries are not really friends with us. What would they say to someone 'the state increased our salary by 28 euros', when in other countries it has reached 900 and 1 thousand. This increase in January and those are like in Peja that they are saying 'are you giving me summer things'? In January, what will be done is a campaign and such an increase now with 50 euros, with 20 euros, is not acceptable for us", said Jasharaj.
He added that they will insist on an increase of at least 30%, taking into account the increase in prices. He also complained about the lack of dialogue with the Government.Oath of Justice
