Jabllanovic withdraws from the elections

The Kosovo Serb Party will not participate in the extraordinary elections that will be held on April 23 in the north, said the leader of this party, Aleksandar Jabllanović, in an extraordinary press conference in Leposavić on Thursday.

According to Jabllanović, there are no adequate conditions for holding elections. He complained about the way they will be kept, mentioning the fact that they will be kept in containers and that security will be guaranteed by the Kosovo Police.

He said that there was no pressure to participate in the elections, although he expected something like that. Jabllanović called on all supporters not to go to the polls on Sunday, reports REL.

This party had only one candidate for president, Jabllanović himself, and 20 candidates for Leposaviq's municipal assembly.

Despite the declarative withdrawal of Jabllanovic, the Central Election Commission said that the ballots have already been printed. "The Central Election Commission has completed the certification process of political subjects and candidates for participation in the elections on Sunday, April 23. Also, on March 27, 2023, the deadline for the withdrawal of political entities from the election race has ended. After all the aspects related to the political subjects and candidates participating in the elections have been concluded, the CEC has approved the design and content of the ballots. Finally, the process of their suppression was completed today, Thursday", said the spokesperson of the CEC, Valmir Elezi.

The extraordinary elections in the north are being organized after the mayors of four municipalities, from the ranks of the Serbian List, resigned in November of last year, opposing the decision of the Government of Kosovo on illegal license plates. The Serbian List has refused to participate in the elections, while recently the pressure has increased on the Serbs who disobey the orders to boycott the elections.
