INTERPOL announces wanted Radoicic

The international police organization, INTERPOL, has announced the search for the former vice-president of the Serbian List, Millan Radoicic, in connection with the armed attack in Banjska in Zveçan on September 24.

The news was confirmed for TIME by the Minister for Communities and Return in the Government of Kosovo, Nenad Rashiq.

He said that the search warrant for Radoicic was issued with the mediation of the United Nations mission in Kosovo, UNIMK, based on the request of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo. This is because Kosovo is not yet a member of INTERPOL.

The media in Serbia have reported that 19 more people related to the attack in Banjska have been declared wanted.

"Red Notice" alerts police around the world to internationally wanted fugitives and helps bring them to justice. However, it is within the competence of INTERPOL member countries to decide whether to arrest a person or not.

On September 24, armed groups of Serbs attacked the Kosovo police in the village of Banjské in Zveçan, where Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed, while three other policemen were injured, two of them with firearms. In the armed clashes that followed, three more Serb attackers were killed.

A few days later, after the MIA released footage of Radoçic from Banjska on the day of the attack, Radoçic claimed responsibility for the attack.

He was questioned by the Serbian Prosecutor's Office in October and charged with several offences, including arms trafficking and causing general danger. The court in Belgrade released him from detention, but confiscated his documents.
