Educational institutions remain open, SBASHK invites the Government to take measures

The Government of Kosovo has not yet considered the possibility of closing educational institutions, although the number of cases of COVID-19 has increased in recent weeks. The President of SBASHK, Rrahman Jasharaj, has requested that the Ministry of Health, together with the Ministry of Education and the IKSHPK, analyze the current situation well and take a firm decision, so that the health of education workers is not endangered. and students

Despite the increase in cases of COVID-19 in Kosovo, educational institutions will continue to be open.

The government has not yet announced their closure. While in schools work is being done according to three scenarios, in higher education mainly combined learning is being organized.

Through a written response, the Ministry of Education has emphasized that until another decision of the Committee for coordination and assessment of the situation with COVID-19, the lesson organized in 3 scenarios will continue, based on the documents approved last year.

According to the Ministry of Education, the Education Inspectorate is in the field every day and is monitoring the form of organization in schools.

The Ministry of Health has not given concrete answers as to whether the possibility of closing educational institutions will be considered, but they have only suggested to take as a reference the statements given at the last meeting of the Committee on COVID.

In that meeting, the Acting Minister of Health, Armend Zemaj, said that the progress of the teaching process at all levels will be reviewed and evaluated as necessary.

Meanwhile, the president of the United Education Union (SBASHK), Rrahman Jasharaj, is asking that the responsible institutions carefully examine the situation, and not endanger the health of education workers and students.

"State institutions should seriously analyze the situation and take examples from neighboring countries. It is true that the number of those affected has increased and this also reflects on education workers, for sure. The situation is serious and I am waiting for the IKSHPK, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education to analyze the situation well and act well in time, let's not expect to be late, because then the consequences will be much more serious". he said.

According to the official data of MES, currently five schools are working in scenario C with online learning, 40 in scenario B with combined learning, and the rest in scenario A with physical presence.
