The Director of the Hydrometeorological Institute of Kosovo (IHMK), Besim Aliu, has stated that in recent days the maximum temperatures have reached 38.2 degrees Celsius, adding that Prizren is the city with the highest temperature in the country.
He stated on Monday in KTV's "60 Minutes" that in the coming days there will be rain and lower temperatures.
"This state of temperatures will continue tomorrow, up to 39 degrees Celsius, but on Wednesday and Thursday we will have streaks of rain and isolated streaks of rain in mountainous areas. On Thursday and Friday, the rainfall will increase and the spread of rainfall will be greater in the territory", said Aliu.
He added that the high temperatures have been positive for farmers because of the harvest-threshing period, as according to him, this hot weather is welcome for agriculture.
"July will be hotter than August, in Kosovo the average annual temperature is around 11 degrees Celsius...Last night the temperature was over 20 degrees Celsius, tropical nights were recorded for the first time. Gradually, with the passage of the hot front, cooler days will come, and the temperatures will decrease to 4 degrees", said the head of IHMK.
Ali has added that these temperatures are normal "because we are in the summer season".
