Hyseni goes to court, addresses the journalist: How are the meetings with Serbian agents going?

The former director of the State Intelligence Service (SHISH), Vlora Hyseni, arrived on Thursday at the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO), where she is expected to be informed of the security measure and the charges against her.

Hyseni, who has been placed under house arrest, spoke briefly to reporters upon entering the courthouse.

The hearing against Hysen will be held behind closed doors. 

SPAK has placed Hyseni under investigation in the context of a criminal proceeding that also involves other persons. According to the GJKKO announcement, she has been placed under house arrest and suspended from exercising a public duty or service. 

Hyseni is suspected of having intimate relationships and providing information to Ergys Agas, the businessman who was arrested in late August. Agas is charged with several criminal offenses, including corruption, money laundering, and organized criminal group.

Before taking over the leadership of SHISH in Albania, Vlora Hyseni had worked for years in the security structures in Kosovo. She was appointed Deputy Director of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA) in February 2019, with a five-year mandate.

In December 2020, after the dismissal of the then director of the KIA, Kreshnik Gashi, Hyseni took over the acting leadership of the institution. She remained in this position until April 2021, when Petrit Ajeti was appointed director of the KIA.

On June 30, 2021, then-President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti decided to dismiss Hyseni from the position of Deputy Director of the KIA. The official announcement at the time did not disclose the reasons for the dismissal.

After leaving the AKI, Hyseni moved to Albania, where she initially worked as a security advisor to Prime Minister Edi Rama, and in April 2023 she was appointed director of SHISH.
