Hysa: Grenell, a challenge for Kosovo – could prove "a quick victory"

Former diplomat Ylber Hysa has stated that there is an option for President Donald Trump's envoy for global affairs, Richard Grenell, to attempt to achieve a "quick victory" in relation to the issue between Kosovo and Serbia.

According to him, Grenell is a challenge for Kosovo, while adding that the European Union and the United States do not have the same reading of the situation in the dialogue.

"A senior official like Grenell, who has a portfolio to deal with all the problems in the world, would try to make a quick victory and we have seen what those models look like. This is a challenge for Kosovo, to think about such situations. Or, the situation that Brussels and Washington do not have the same reading of Kosovo and Serbia... They put us in an unfavorable position to try to lean towards one or the other, and they will take revenge on us," Hysa said on KTVA on Monday.

The former Kosovo ambassador to North Macedonia has stated that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has been waiting for the moment for US President Donald Trump to return to power. This waiting, according to Hysa, was also made possible through Kosovo institutions.

"Vučić wanted to buy time. He was also enabled by the Kosovar side, unfortunately, and then he gained time with his diplomacy of lithium and ammunition. He was waiting for this day of Trump, who invested with lobbyists," he added.
