Democratic League of Kosovo MP Avdullah Hoti said that one should not call out the name of a presidential candidate when he has withdrawn, referring to Bekim Sejdiu.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti stated today in a press conference that Sejdiu withdrew from the candidacy when the agreement with the Democratic League of Kosovo for his name was violated by six MPs from this entity, but in the view of the Vetëvendosje Movement, they still have a political agreement with the LDK and that it must be respected.
For this reason, Hoti stated that the agreement between the two presidents (Kurti and Abdixhiku) cannot be turned into an order for the members of the Assembly.
"How can someone be called upon to an agreement when the person involved in that agreement has withdrawn from the candidacy?! An agreement between two party leaders cannot be turned into an order for the members of Parliament. The Constitution is very clear: members of Parliament, as representatives of the people, are not subject to any obligation," Hoti wrote on Facebook.
Hoti, who is among the six MPs who refused to vote for candidate Sejdiu, has said that they are ready to vote for a candidate from the LDK for president and that they choose new elections instead of submission.
"Political agreements can be changed. We are ready to vote for a candidate from the Democratic League of Kosovo, because only in this way is the balance of powers ensured. We choose "new elections" instead of political submission," Hoti said in his reaction.
