Avdullah Hoti, a member of parliament from the Democratic League of Kosovo, has said that his party needs new leadership after its failure in the December 28 elections.
In a Facebook post, Hoti called for no deviation from the LDK statute for the election of the new president. While saying that it is time for the LDK to have unity and reflect on the way forward, Hoti said that according to the LDK statute, when the president resigns, the Assembly is convened only to be informed and to elect the new president.
"The LDK Statute is clear. In the event of the resignation of the LDK President, the LDK Assembly is convened to be officially notified of this resignation. After this act of notification, the Assembly elects the new LDK President. That's it. This is what happened in 2021. Any deviation from this statutory procedure is a tendency to postpone, relativize or deform the political responsibility of the LDK leadership. The standard of resignation after a poor election result was set in 2021. This standard was embraced and promoted with persistence by Mr. Abdixhiku himself. Therefore, any attempt to avoid this standard today is in open contradiction with the principles that the current leadership itself has proclaimed as guiding values," Hoti wrote.
After the elections in which the LDK received only 13 percent of the votes, according to Hoti, no one can deny that the party needs new leadership.
"After the extremely poor results of the December 28, 2025 elections, no one can deny that the LDK needs new leadership and, subsequently, reorganization at all levels through a transparent and inclusive process. Citizens' trust in the LDK has been damaged and it cannot be restored without a clear act of responsibility and a sincere reform process," he continued.
Hoti added that at the consultative meeting of party leaders two days ago, he made it clear that if the leadership does not take responsibility and pave the way for reform, he will resign.

"This is not an emotional act, but a principled political stance in defense of the statute, standards and political identity of the LDK. All of us who have political responsibility before the LDK electorate have an obligation to ensure a comprehensive, transparent and statutory process for the election of the new LDK leadership. Each of us, including the members of the Presidency, the General Council, the heads of branches and the delegates of the LDK Assembly, have a responsibility to give the LDK the right direction", Hoti concluded.
A day ago, Hykmete Bajrami resigned from the position of deputy leader of the party. She also demanded the resignation of leader Lumir Abdixhiku, who two days ago said that he had offered his resignation and that now its acceptance is in the hands of LDK delegates.
