The Government program of Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti, approved on Friday, does not recognize Washington's leading role in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. The Program describes an equivalent role for the European Union and the United States of America.

"In order to reach a final agreement, resulting in mutual recognition of the existing borders, the Government appreciates the role of the European Union and the United States of America as inseparable for the success of this process", says the Program, a copy of which KOHA has provided. "The full involvement in the dialogue, both of the EU and the USA, is key, both in reaching the agreement and in guaranteeing its implementation", writes KOHA.

However, President Thaçi already seems to have turned his back on the EU and demands that the dialogue be mediated only by Washington. Finally, President Thaçi has also refused to talk with the EU mediator, Miroslav Lajçak, while on several occasions he has said that the EU has lost its credibility, and has opposed the appointment of Lajçak, saying that "he will fail ".

The parties that are now in the governing coalition have not rejected the EU as a mediator, but have emphasized that without the USA no process can be successful. In fact, the clash that led to the overthrow of the previous Government of Albin Kurti was largely explained as a result of disagreements about the dialogue process mediated by the American emissary, Richard Grenell.

On the other hand, local and international experts have expressed the shyness that in Washington, Kosovo awaits a quick solution because of the presidential elections that must be held in the fall, and which solution may also affect the borders.
