Haskuka keeps the director at work with an indictment, despite the promise otherwise

Ertan Simitçi, director for Economy and Finance in the municipality of Prizren, has been indicted for the criminal offense of "abuse of official position" by the Basic Prosecutor's Office in Prizren.

He is accused that in the period January - December 2016 in Prizren, in the capacity of the Director of the Department of Economy and Finance, he used his official authority by giving some local media in this city money in the amount of 11 euros, without passing at all in tendering procedures, which are provided by law.

In a written response, the Basic Prosecutor's Office in this municipality said that on July 31, it filed an indictment against Simitçi.

"On 31.07.2019, the Basic Prosecutor's Office in Prizren, Department of Serious Crimes, filed an indictment against ES, in the capacity of Director in the Directorate for Economy and Finance, in the Municipality of Prizren, for the criminal offense of "Misuse of official position or authority" from article 422 paragraph 1 in relation to paragraph 2, subsection 2.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo (KPRK)", says the written response from the Basic Prosecutor's Office in Prizren.

Ertan Simitçiu told KTV over the phone that he has not yet received any notification from the Prosecutor's Office regarding the suspicion of any criminal offense.

The same thing is said by the mayor of the municipality who had promised that during his administration there will be no staff under indictment.

Furthermore, Haskuka has accused the Prosecutor's Office of not dealing with the files it submitted for abuses of the previous government.

The opposition in this municipality demands his dismissal, since it was Haskuka himself who promised such a thing.

In October last year, KTV reported that the director of culture in this municipality, Ehat Oreshka, was convicted of two criminal offenses, but that Mytaher Haskuka had not dismissed him from his position.
