Pristina, November 20 - Acting Prime Minister, Ramush Haradinaj, participated today in the conference "Small-Scale Innovative Ecosystems in Kosovo", organized by the Embassy of Finland in Pristina in cooperation with UBT.
In his speech to the audience, acting Prime Minister Haradinaj said that Kosovo is facing two challenges, one of which has to do with the urgency or need for economic development, the great pressure we have to start the economy or even to grow, and the second is to take care of all the values or the environment where this economy takes place.
"Usually economies in urgent need of development make painful compromises in the environment, resources and in all other circumstantial aspects. Fortunately, Kosovo is not alone at this stage of its development and it is really to be thanked for the commitment of the Embassy of Finland, which is also the chair of the EU, that has found time, opportunities and resources to support a debate. of innovative developments, of innovative businesses, but also of the effect or ecosystem aspects in Kosovo", said the acting Prime Minister, Haradinaj.
During the speech, acting Prime Minister Haradinaj emphasized the fact that they welcome these energies coming from partners, in this case from the EU, UNDP, from America, and hope that they will influence us, meanwhile he presented some numerical data that what happens in Kosovo with businesses, with those that start, how many of them there are and what kind of activity they are.
"There are 2462 registered enterprises and 96 percent of them are small businesses, which are on the way to expand their activity, but unfortunately we did not have any registered companies in 2018 with over 250 employees, to consider it as a big company. The most businesses operate in Pristina with 705 enterprises, followed by Ferizaj with 224, Prizren 208, Peja 147, Gjilani 144 and Gjakova 113", said acting Prime Minister Haradinaj, adding that with the raising of our awareness, with these discussions, we are connecting the urgency for development that we have and at the same time we are lucky to have partners who remind us of other aspects that must be taken into account.
Edmond Hajrizi, rector of UBT, said that the good cooperation with the Embassy of Finland, with the ambassador, shows a leadership, a proactivity, a desire to cooperate and develop something together in Kosovo and the motivation of this conference is based on what Finland leads the European Union in this six-month period and focuses on the part of sustainable development, the part of the ecosystem, the environment, some important elements that are a good prerequisite for development.

The Ambassador of Finland in Kosovo, Pia Stjernvall, said that it is good that today we are able to define or at least have an idea of what kind of innovative ecosystems can make the economic and social rise in Kosovo.
