Haradinaj and Bytyqi risk lawsuits for abuse of office

The scandal with the political interventions of the prime minister and other officials in the decisions about the accreditation of higher education institutions, in addition to numerous reactions, has also provoked civil society protests.

On Thursday, as a sign of opposition to political interference in the independence of the State Quality Council, the Organization for Quality in Education (ORCA) protested.

In fact, Gramoz Buqinca from ORCA has warned Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj and the Minister of Education, Shyqiri Bytyqi, that any further interference in the work of the State Quality Council and the Kosovo Agency for Accreditation, will cost them a lawsuit for abuse of office official. In addition, ORCA also warned of continued protests if the interventions are not stopped.

"In case the prime minister and the minister try to lay hands on the Kosovo Agency for Accreditation, we will sue them for abuse of official position, because it is clear from the laws in force that they are not the authorities that can decide on accreditation issues. We have started preparations for protests, which will begin with the first intervention of the Government in the Kosovo Agency for Accreditation", stated Buqinca.
