The trial for obstruction of justice against Thaçi begins on February 24th

February 24 of next year has been set as the date for the start of the trial of former President Hashim Thaçi and others, on charges of obstruction of justice. 

The Specialist Chambers' announcement states that the decision was taken on Thursday by a single judge, Christopher Gosnel. 

Other defendants in this case are Bashkim Smakaj, Isni Kilaj, Fadil Fazliu and Hajredin Kuçi. 

According to the order, the main presentation of evidence by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office, where three witnesses are expected to be called, will take place in a single block until March 6. 

Thaçi has been in custody in The Hague since November 2020, for war crimes and obstruction of justice. 

Meanwhile, others, such as Smakaj, Kilaj and Fazliu, were arrested in Kosovo and transferred to The Hague in December 2024.
