The court will turn to the MoD to invite Ivanovic's ex-partner as a witness

The trial panel of the Basic Court in Pristina, chaired by judge Valon Kurtaj, has decided to address an official request to the Ministry of Justice to invite the witness Milena Popović, the former partner of the late Oliver Ivanović, in the case where six people are being tried for with his murder.

The reason for the absence of witnesses is the interruption of the session related to the murder of the Serbian politician, Oliver Ivanovic on Tuesday. In the absence of the witness Milena Popovic, the ex-wife of the Serbian politician who was killed on January 16, 2018, and the two witnesses proposed by the accused NS and his defense attorney Faruk Korenica, the hearing scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled. in today's session it was decided only for procedural steps.

The jury composed of Valon Kurtaj, Valbona Musliu-Selimaj and Musa Koxheli decided to reject Popović's request to testify via video link, as it considered it to be in violation of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Popovic, according to the court, was justified that the political and security situation cannot be the cause.

The court will address a request to the Ministry of Justice to invite Milena Popović through the international legal cooperation facilitated by the EULEX mission. As Judge Kurtaj warned, the deadline that will be given to the witness Popovic is in May, after she has been invited dozens of times so far.

Milena Popovic currently lives in Serbia, holds a position in the Ministry of Tourism and Youth in Serbia and is a member of the ruling SNS party.

In this case, six people are being tried who are suspected to have helped in various ways in the murder of Ivanovic and who damaged the investigative process for clarifying the criminal case for his murder. Other accused who are on the run are Millan Radoicic, Zvonko Veselinovic and Zeljko Bojic. According to the indictment, the motive for the murder was the extent of the political and economic influence of the organized crime group of Radoicic and Veselinovic.
